Born on September 10, 1943, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Walsch struggled with various personal and professional challenges in his early life, including homelessness and divorce. It was during a period of deep despair and frustration in the mid-1990s that he began writing an open letter to God, asking questions about life, love, and the universe.
