Michael Jordan is a retired professional basketball player widely regarded as one of the greatest to have ever played the game. Born on February 17, 1963, in Brooklyn, New York, Jordan spent the majority of his childhood in Wilmington, North Carolina. He attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he played college basketball under coach Dean Smith and led the Tar Heels to a national championship in 1982. Jordan quickly rose to stardom after being selected by the Chicago Bulls with the third overall pick in the 1984 NBA Draft.

During his legendary career, Jordan won six NBA championships with the Chicago Bulls and earned numerous accolades, including five regular-season MVP awards and 14 All-Star selections. Known for his scoring ability, athleticism, and competitive spirit, Jordan dominated the NBA in the 1980s and 1990s, solidifying his place as one of the sport's all-time greats.
